Police received a call around 9:15 a.m. of a person walking down a highway in Atkins, armed with a handgun, reportedly exhibiting aggressive behavior and pointing the gun at passing drivers. When an Atkins police officer made contact with the man, he immediately began firing at the officer. After the gunfire, Anthony Langley ran into a wooded area east of the highway, and police began searching for him. When officers encountered Langley again, he allegedly fired at officers, who shot and killed him.
