About 1:30 a.m., police were called to the Mayflower Apartments for a report of a woman being assaulted by a man. When officers arrived, they learned the Michael Murphy had fled the building, and they found him. He was shot by one of the officers after he refused to drop his weapon, a replica gun, and pointed it at them, police said.
