Giles County Sheriff's Office got a call from a private security company service about a potential fire at a home on Guinea Mountain Road. Fire crews and deputies were dispatched to the home. When they got there, a firefighter and two deputies encountered Hoback armed with a large knife.Police said Hoback was outside the home at the time and refused to comply with commands of the deputies to drop the weapon. Police said Hoback began advancing on the deputies, and he was shot and killed.
