Police responded to a call around 4:10 p.m. about a domestic violence assault with a deadly weapon, police said. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound inside the home, police said. Deputy Sheriff James Hawkins, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene. James Hawkins' wife, Deputy Sheriff Rataba Hawkins, was involved in the shooting, although police didn't immediately accuse her of killing him.
