County officers and SWAT team members responded to a domestic disturbance and found Furr agitated, likely drunk, armed, and suicidal. Furr had already shot and wounded his son, and explicitly told officers on a phone call that he wanted to kill and be killed, "in a blaze of glory". When Furr emerged with a gun in each hand, and two more later discovered in his front pockets, he was fatally shot once by a police sniper.
