Deputies responded to Calypso around 1:30 p.m. for the report of a breaking and entering. The deputies encountered Jonathan Carter who had allegedly been holding a person against his will. That victim had gotten out of the home. Carter barricaded himself inside and threatened officers, leading to the standoff. Deputies went into the residence and shot and killed Carter.
