Officer Darrell Osment was walking his dog in plain clothes in Ashland City at around 9:05 p.m. when he allegedly was shot in the shoulder by William Johnson. Other officers chased Johnson through parts of north Nashville, with Johnson reportedly shooting at an officer who tried to spike his tires. The pursuit came to an end on I-440 eastbound near Nolensville Pike. Police said Johnson and three Metro officers—Terrance Stuckey, Jacob Krispin and David Lang—exchanged gunfire, killing Johnson. Police later reportedly recovered a gun from Johnson's car.
