At about 12:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call of an armed man causing a disturbance. The standoff began with an exchange of gunfire involving Jose Meza inside a home. Homes were started on fire and the freeway was shut down for hours during the standoff. Meza was shot and killed when he reportedly came out of a house with a long gun.
