A chase started when its deputies tried to carry out a traffic stop. The man refused to pull over, however, and led authorities westbound into Chambers County and then Baytown. Once in Baytown, deputies say the suspect tried to hit an officer who was trying to set up a spike strip to stop the speeding SUV. Eventually he wrecked and then allegedly exchanged gunfire with police and was killed.
