Police responded to a possible hostage situation at 8:44 a.m. A man called 911 to report there were hostages inside an apartment and that somebody had been injured by a person with a machete. When police arrived, they knocked on the apartment door, and a woman answered the door and was escorted out of the residence. Officers ordered anybody else in the apartment to come out. They allegedly were confronted by a man with a machete, who failed to comply with orders to drop it. One officer reportedly tried to use a Taser on the man, but when he was not incapacitated, an officer shot and killed him.

The information about this incident is not correct. Mr. Jackson was NOT hit with a taser before he was shot, Mr. Jackson was the one who called 911 on himself, he WAS having a mental health crisis, the police were informed of this fact, as well as the fact that he was actually alone in his room, half a minute before they attempted to kick the door down to his bedroom. The person who answered the door to the apartment was Mr. Jackson's sister and she was in no danger, the apartment had no signs of anyone being harmed, or of anyone being held captive, no unusual sounds or anyone else reporting anyone kidnapping or holding captive anyone in the apartment. The police had no reason to attempt to kick Mr. Jackson's door down, no one was in danger and the officers knew it.
