Barawis was a wanted fugitive. Police caught up with him at McDonald's. They ordered him to get out of his vehicle. Instead of obeying their commands, Barawis drove over barriers in the drive-thru, accelerated his vehicle and drove towards an officer, ramming into two police vehicles. He was shot and killed.
