Residents called Beaverton police to say Karjalainen was in the neighborhood and wanted him gone. Although he didn't commit any crimes there, and police had already left, they returned after learning there was a warrant for Karjalainen's arrest based on a parole violation. Karjalainen allegedly had a replica gun when police returned, police said. They told him to drop the replica gun repeatedly, but he kept moving toward the officers, and he was shot and killed.
