At 1:19 a.m. two Pittsburgh police officers were on patrol when they encountered a man acting suspiciously. Both police agencies said the man fired a gun at the officers, and that one officer returned fire, hitting the man, who fled. Mark Daniels was chased and found before being transported to a hospital where he died.
