Officers on patrol near 71st Street and Paxton Avenue heard shots fired and saw a van speeding away from the area. A chase ensued and a man jumped from the vehicle with a gun in his hand. After a foot pursuit, officers commanded the man to drop the weapon. The man allegedly refused and pointed the gun at officers who fired and killed the man at the scene.
