Two deputies were investigating "criminal activity" around 3:15 p.m. when they killed a person. Later reporting said: An Arapahoe County deputy on regular patrol noticed a stolen Jeep parked outside a Days Inn and called for backup in preparation of impounding the Jeep. Deputy James Stiltner answered the backup call. The deputies saw Steven Ferguson trying to move the Jeep and blocked him with their patrol cars. Ferguson tried to roll over the hood of Stiltner’s car and then jumped out of the Jeep to run, police said. As Stiltner chased him, Ferguson allegedly pulled a BB gun from his waistband and pointed it at the deputy, who shot and killed him.
