An exchange of gunfire about 4:30 p.m. ended a standoff which began around 11:30 a.m. at the Valley Inn Motel. Alameda County sheriff's deputies shot and killed a 42-year-old man who authorities said shot at them from the second-floor balcony of a motel in unincorporated San Leandro. The man allegedly was one of two people wanted in connection with an Oakland homicide earlier in 2020.
