Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a shotgun "acting crazy" in the parking lot of Varsity Pizza. Deputies were searching for the suspect, who they learned was supposed to be meeting with police earlier that afternoon regarding a child rape investigation. Police found the suspect's vehicle, which sped off at high speeds. Deputies chased the vehicle until it crashed at Alder Cutoff Road and Mountain Highway, where gunfire was reportedly exchanged, and deputies killed the man.
