Approximately 7:35 p.m., Calvin Wheeley notified 911 that his wife, Lottie, had been shot in the lower back and was in transit to a hospital. Police were told that Jay Michael Clem, who was inside the home. Officers tried to make contact with Clem, but he refused to cooperate and barricaded himself inside the residence with his weapon. Police attempted to communicate with Clem for four hours, but were not successful. Chemicals were shot into the house, and Clem allegedly came out of the home brandishing a handgun and fired at officers. Police shot and killed him.
