Just after 3 p.m., U.S. Marshals were trying to get in touch with Robert Martinez. Martinez was wanted on a federal arrest warrant for a probation violation, police said. After agents saw Martinez get in a vehicle driven by a woman, they attempted to stop the vehicle. The woman allegedly continued driving, eventually colliding with several unmarked police cars. An officer who was standing outside then fired shots toward her - striking her in the extremities and causing her vehicle to come to a stop. Martinez started reaching around inside the vehicle while refusing to follow orders to surrender to officers. A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed him.
