After 1 a.m., Los Angeles police officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, police said. When officers arrived, they were directed to an angry man who was on top of a carport. The suspect came down and began throwing objects at the officers, who responded with various less-lethal means. He allegedly armed himself with a pickax and ran to a nearby residence, where he attempted to enter. He was shot and killed.
