At about 9:30 a.m., deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a man armed with an ax and a knife was trying to break into a gun cabinet, police said. When a Mackinaw police officer and two county deputies arrived, the man allegedly pointed a gun at them, and one of the deputies shot and killed him.
