The sheriff's office got a 911 call at 9:20 a.m. about a man who had fired a shot inside a home, while family members were inside. He was believed to be in mental distress, police said. About 1:15 p.m., the man walked out onto the patio, shouldered his rifle and aimed it at deputies and was shot and killed.
