Fort Collins Police Services received a call at 4:50 a.m. from a caller who said he heard a loud noise and then saw a hole appear in the ceiling above him at Americas Best Value Inn, police said. Fort Collins police officers responded, and when they tried to make contact with a man, he opened the door holding a firearm and was shot and killed.
