Two officers were looking for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted homicide that occurred in December. Officers saw a man driving a vehicle matching the description of the wanted suspect. When officers attempted to stop him, the driver fled and eventually crashed on the overpass on Highway 178 near Niles Street and Alta Vista. According to police, the suspect got out of his car and ran from the officers. An officer said he had pointed a gun at them and shot and killed him.
