Police said they went to the motel to serve a warrant to a known violent offender. When officers approached Daffern, he was in the front seat of a vehicle in the parking lot. The officer commanded Daffern to show his hands before he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at officers, and two officers shot and killed him.
