Deputies were attempting to involuntarily commit Scott for mental health treatment under a court order, authorities said. Scott reportedly armed himself with a gun and barricaded himself inside his home when deputies arrived. During a six-hour standoff, police said they tried to negotiate with Scott, who fired out of his home multiple times. He was shot and killed when he allegedly pointed the gun at Swat officers.
