Deputies were called to assist with Antigo police who were chasing a suspect who had fired a gun at an officer during a traffic stop. The chase ended on Hillview Road in the town of Pine River, where the suspect left his car armed with a gun, and police lapsed into an hour-long standoff. Police negotiated with the suspect, but declined to say what led police to shot and kill the unidentified man.
