Responding to an early morning call, police encountered Marquez Heraldes in a foyer armed with a knife. He lunged at them with the knife and escaped to the bathroom of an apartment. After attempting to contact the man, officers heard screams for help, forced their way inside and found Heraldes stabbing a man. They opened fire, killing him.
