State Trooper Jacob Fields tried to pull Rodriguez over, but he refused to stop. Several other troopers joined the chase over the next 10 miles. As they neared Delk Road, the troopers tried to box Rodriguez in. He crashed into another car and disabled his own truck, police said. When Rodriguez jumped out, the shootout began. Fields was injured, Rodriguez was killed.
