Officers responded about 5:50 p.m. on a report of a suspect, armed with a knife, in the middle of the street, according to Lt. Kirk Kelley of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Valley Station, whose officers responded to the call even though it was in the Mission Station's patrol area. They were confronted by the suspect and he was shot and killed.
