Deputies responded to a domestic incident in which Kozlowski shot his mother. when deputies got to the house, Kozlowski shot at deputies, who fired back and hit him at least a couple times. Deputies were not hurt. Jarek went back in the house and left through the back. Deputies called for backup and sent a reverse 911 to the neighborhood, and found him nearby, leading him to surrender. He died in the hospital a few days later.
