After a chase that started with a report that the man was pointing a pistol-grip shotgun at drivers, Hartley drove into the neighborhood off Northpointe Boulevard and State Highway 249 with officers in pursuit. He reportedly was killed after ignoring officers' instructions to put down his weapon. He was reported wanted on a felony warrant out of Grime County.
