Officers responded to a 1:30 a.m. 911 call by Bolin's boyfriend, who said that she was suicidal. SWAT officers who responded tried to reason with her, but she exited her residence so quickly that officers shot at her with a "less-lethal projectile." She returned to her residence, then went outside again, threatening herself and then officers with her pistol. A SWAT sniper fatally shot her.
