Morin was wanted on two nonviolent felony warrants. He was visiting relatives and a deputy staked out the relative's house in order to serve arrest Morin. When Morin and his relatives returned home from dinner, the deputy attempted to arrest the unarmed Morin, a scuffle ensued, ending with the deputy shooting and killing Morin in front of his family. A federal civil rights lawsuit was filed against Riverside County on Aug. 26.
