Troopers came to serve a domestic-protective order on LeJeune at his house. He retreated further into the house and at one point raised a shotgun at officers. Officers retreated peacefully and returned the next day with new warrants, and fired a "wide variety of chemical and non-chemical irritants" into the house. Ultimately, they fatally shot LeJeune to resolve the standoff.
