Deputies were initially called to investigate a domestic dispute at a home. Collins barricaded himself inside the house and a hostage rescue team tried to persuade Collins to surrender. After 12 hours, Collins allegedly exited the home holding a rifle. A sheriff's deputy guarding the arrest team fired at Collins, killing him.
