Thorsby police conducted a traffic stop around 12:30 p.m. As officers came up to the vehicle, the driver allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot at the officers. He fled and continued to fire at officers. A police dog tracked Jackson to a wooded area, where he allegedly shot the dog and fired at deputies, two of whom shot and killed him.
