Kentucky State Police reportedly were serving warrants to multiple homes when two men fired at them. The two men were in tents on the side of the mountain when they fired at police. Police shot and killed Charles Garland, 30, while a 24-hour standoff occurred between Kentucky State Police and the second remaining person, Joey Middleton, when Garland was shot in the woods by Kentucky state troopers. Police killed Middleton the following day.
