Batesville police officers were called to a home after receiving reports that Evans was acting irrationally. While an officer stood outside the home attempting to contact Evans, he allegedly fired a shot in the officer's direction. Other officers arrived, including a SWAT team. Evans eventually exited the home allegedly holding a gun. Three troopers with the SWAT team and an officer from the Greensburg Police Department fired at Evans.
