About 6:25 p.m., deputies approached a home looking for Juan Carlos Estrada. Deputies ordered him to exit the home over their patrol vehicle speakers. Estrada failed to follow deputies' commands. In the meantime, a sheriff's dispatcher reportedly received a call from inside the home suggesting Estrada was armed with a gun.
