A deputy attempted a traffic stop after Thompson had reportedly ran a stop sign. The deputy found Thompson had a warrant out for his arrest, and a chase ensued. Thompson eventually crashed the vehicle, and reportedly refused to exit the car but was holding a gun. Officers got closer and claim Thompson threatened to shoot himself. Thompson then ran into a home and watched officers from a window. Police claim Thompson eventually began firing at them, and officer returned fire, killing Thompson.
