A woman, Kalin Addison, had reportedly been in a fight with family members and shot her sister. Addison allegedly gave the gun to her brother, who ran from the scene. Deputies caught up with Lino-Gutierrez and claim he aimed the weapon at them. Deputies shot and killed him.
