Police said Austin Schell had struck his 40-year-old mother in the head with a baseball bat several times, causing severe injuries. Police chased him into Farmersville until a Farmersville officer spiked his tire. Schell lost control of the vehicle and crashed head-on into a truck on State Highway 78, killing him. Police said nobody was hurt or killed in the truck.
