Charlottesville police officers responded to reports of a sexual assault and robbery. Officers located a victim, a 72-year-old female, who had sustained non-life threatening injuries. The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect. Police then located the suspect on the Rivanna Trail, and he fled on foot at about 1:19 p.m. Police said J.C. Hawkins pointed his gun at the three officers, who shot and killed him.
