Officer Austin Espinoza of the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) in Lincoln, Nebraska was charged with drunk driving and assault on October 11, 2020. According to media reports he blew a .112 after officers responded to a reported assault in the parking lot at the Grata Bar and Lounge. A woman reported being assaulted by Espinoza, but he tried to blame her saying that she assaulted him. While they were trying to sort things out officers became to suspect that Espinoza might be drunk, so they gave him a breathalyzer test and he failed miserably. We are assuming that the couple were in Espinoza's personal vehicle when officer arrived.
Officer Espinoza has since been suspended pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
