Amiliano Apodaca was the passenger in a vehicle in which the driver allegedly drove toward a deputy after a high-speed chase. A woman was driving the vehicle and reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident, but her name was not immediately released. Police said the woman allegedly rammed a Fremont County sheriff's deputy's patrol car and nearly struck a CaƱon City police car while she was driving recklessly on eastbound U.S. 50. Deputies intentionally rammed the woman's car, forcing it to a stop in an open field, but the woman then continued to drive away. A deputy then crashed into her car, after which the car stopped in front of a home. Police said when deputies got out of their vehicles and went to approach the vehicle, she drove toward one of the deputies, and a deputy shot at her and killed her passenger.
