Two officers shot Ott in his lower abdomen while responding to a disturbance at his house, 5120 Lanagan St., according to the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office. The officers shot Ott when he raised the weapon and pointed it at them, the District Attorney's Office said. Moments before opening fire, the officers said they heard Ott say something to the effect of "Shoot me," an arrest affidavit said. Ott ignored their calls to drop his rifle, the affidavit said.Investigators later learned Ott was holding an air rifle - though there were no markings on it, such as an orange safety tip, to suggest it wasn't an actual gun - the District Attorney's Office said. Ott also had unused pellet rounds in his pocket.
