A neighbor called the police after seeing Hobbs in his grandfather's yard. The caller stated his grandfather allegedly had a victim protective order against Hobbs and that Hobbs may be under the influence. Officer Daniel Lopez responded to the home and spoke with Hobbs, who disclosed he was taking medication for mental illness. Lopez asked to search Hobbs for weapons, and a scuffle allegedly ensued. Police claim Lopez's body camera shut off during the scuffle. Lopez shot Hobbs four times.
