Members of the Houston Police Department Midwest patrol Division Crime Suppression Team conducted a follow-up investigation after a number of robberies occurred in the area. The team began following a vehicle suspected to be involved in these incidents. A traffic stop was initiated, and the vehicle allegedly evaded officers. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed and the driver allegedly exited the vehicle with a gun in hand. The suspect allegedly attempted to carjack someone else. Officers surrounded the vehicle and commanded the individual drop their weapon. The individual allegedly did not follow commands, and Officer E. Garza fired his weapon, killing the person.
