Former Deputy City Attorney Simon Whang recently proved that being a minority is not a license to make racist remarks. As a result his former boss, Portland City Attorney Tracey Reeve gave back a professionalism award to the Oregon State Bar because she failed to rebuke Whang after he made a remark that he called inappropriate, offensive, and yes, racist. He made the remark at the award ceremony. He has since resigned.
